I LOVE movies. I also LOVE movie posters. There is a thrill to walking in a theatre and seeing posters for the upcoming blockbusters. The art speaks volumes to the content and emotional experience of a film. I like a good trailer as much as the next guy, but a great poster design always catches my heart and makes me excited about a movie.
The Indy Film Fest annually celebrates the art of poster design at the Bigger Picture Show. This event/fundraiser/party is a showcase of local graphic designers and should be a must see for any music or art lover.
Here is how it works:
This year should be particularly interesting. The theme is “Mix-Up” which means designer are taking two classic movies and mashing them up in one unique design. As a participating designer, I had to go through a list and choose a selection. I was absolutely cracking up going through the list and imagining the possibilities.
