Kid-friendly Restaurants

It's five o'clock and your kids are hungry. Where to go that everyone in the family will like? Tonight, skip the drive-thru and the pizza box and enjoy a good meal with the family. Here are a few of our top picks for the little ones to enjoy an evening out to eat. These restaurants have turned “kid-friendly” into an art form.

Scotty's Brewhouse is an Indiana favorite with two locations in Indianapolis that please kids and parents alike. Parents will love the innovative “menu creations” and the kick-back atmosphere and the little ones will enjoy kid-friendly menu options like mini hamburgers, cheesy quesadillas and mac'n'cheese. Plus, they offer a $2 kids menu every Tuesday and Sunday.

Scotty's Brewhouse isn't just a lunch and dinner spot. Saturday and Sunday brunch offers a full cereal bar stocked with a variety of cereals, milk and fruit toppings. When parents join the VIP club, the kids can join Scotty's Treehouse for special offers on meals, prizes, Scotty's gear and much more.

Hollyhock Hill is a charming country-style restaurant in an old cottage near Broad Ripple Village. Served family-style, guests will feel right at home around large dining room tables with down-home comfort food as the centerpiece, including Hoosier pan-fried chicken, whipped potatoes, green beans, buttered corn, country gravy and homemade biscuits. We know the kids are hungry now! Every dinner starts with salad, apple butter and fresh biscuits, followed by the main entree and if you have enough room, the make-your-own ice cream sundaes are simply delightful.

Traders Point is a true farm-to-table dining experience. Visitors have the opportunity to tour the pastures before they head into The Loft to try the finest organic and local ingredients, many straight from the farm. Children love Traders Point’s signature mac n’ cheese, grilled cheese, cottage cheese, and chocolate milk.

Located in Speedway, Mug N' Bun has been an Indianapolis favorite for more than 50 years. Load up the kids and enjoy a good meal at this classic American drive-in. Whether you eat in the car or let the kids run in the picnic area, their hamburgers, hot dogs and fries paired with a root beer float will give your kids memories for years to come.

Mashcraft Brewery

Finally! No need to find a babysitter for your brewery lunch date. While mom and dad enjoy their favorite craft beer, the kids can enjoy a selection of sandwiches and snacks. Each Mashcraft location offers a family-friendly atmosphere equipped with that one-of-a-kind brewery feel.

The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory has perfected what kids love: spaghetti! Kids will be nothing but smiles eating their favorite pasta inside a railroad car or in one of the comfy oversized Victorian velvet chairs. Don't forget the complimentary spumoni ice cream for dessert!

Napolese gets its roots from local restaurateur, Martha Hoover, who also owns and operates the popular Petite Chou and Café Patachou locations. This pizzeria serves the finest of homemade “pies” from their wood-fired oven along with unique salads and sandwiches. Children eight and under love the Pizza Bambino at Napolese’s Downtown, Keystone, and Meridian-Kessler locations.

Do you have kids that rock? If so, take them to downtown Indianapolis and turn them loose in the Hard Rock Cafe on a memorabilia scavenger hunt. Prizes are available for children 12 and under! Not only is the memorabilia great to look at, but the food is just as tasty.

The whole family will love BRU Burger. From the Mexicali BBQ to Ahi Tuna, adults enjoy the adventure that BRU’s adds to the classic hamburger. Try the “burger snack” for a smaller (but filling) portion or the vegan quinoa burger for a fan-favorite meatless option. The younger crowd will enjoy the $6 kids’ meal with a choice of entree, fries, and a soft drink. Remember to save room for BRU’s famous hand-dipped milkshakes!

Holy peach butter! Made in-house daily, Maxine's has perfected the recipe for Indy’s favorite pancakes, waffles, and cornbread topper. A family-owned business to its core, you’ll feel like you just stepped into an extended family gathering at Maxine’s. Maxine’s features a kids’ menu with petite portions of their menu's best sellers.

What's a kid-friendly meal without dessert? The Flying Cupcake is sure to please the kid in everyone. Visit the Flying Cupcake to satisfy your sweet tooth with a variety of flavors from Peanut Butter Blackout to Pucker Up (lemon flavor). Plus there always seems to be a few new flavors in the display case every week.
