A. The Athenaeum is a community asset, community gathering place, and historic venue programmed by the community. We hope that visitors will come to one of our events and/or frequent the Rathskeller and Biergarten to experience the uniqueness of this German building! Having a beer on a warm summer night under the stars in a walled biergarten brings friends and smiles.
A. So many... Indiana History Center and whatever is showing in the "Your Are There" exhibit; walking along the canal at White River State Park and taking in all of the murals; walking around the perimeter of the State Museum and locating my home county; the Grand Hall in the Indiana Landmarks Center; and biking the tow path to the Oldfields grounds and 100 acre woods at the IMA... should I keep going!?
A. Well, I'm a bit biased but Monumental Yoga on June 21st/Summer Solstice held on Monument Circle each year is a pretty awesome place to be. 1,500+ people all joining together for a free yoga class is just, well, good energy. I've also made an annual pilgrimage to White River State Park to watch Shakespeare performed. Another amazing free event - the players are framed by the sun setting over the banks of the White River. LOVE IT!
A. They must not miss the Circle lit up at night. It is a majestic monument with Lady Victory towering over head, and I'm excited about the prospect of it becoming even more pedestrian and bike friendly!
A. Hhhmmmm... so many choices. I still love to hang out at the "Box" (Chatterbox) on a warm afternoon and watch the world pass with a glass of wine in hand while laughing with friends, though it may be a tie with BYEB... Bike/Yoga/Eat/Bike.... a tradition several girlfriends and I have established on Saturday mornings. We ride our bikes downtown and take a yoga class followed by a great meal at some cool new Fountain Square restaurant - repeat!!
A. If they are bikers, we will take our bikes to the Monon and head downtown to whatever festival is going on or a play that is being performed by No Exit, Phoenix, or IRT! So many great choices are always available... And sharing a delectable piece of salmon at Locally Grown Gardens in SoBro continues to be one of my favorites!
A. I love to take my family down to Mass Ave and just revel in the diversity of people and activities. Over the holidays I took my girls to "Small Business Saturday," and we did our holiday shopping at the locally owned shops. The street and stores were full of people!!
A. I think two of the hidden gems in plain sight are Eagle Creek Park and Holliday Park. They are my "go to" soul soothers and the trails are magical as I'm pulled into the transition of seasons. The world seems to drop away when I leave my cell phone in the car and get swallowed by the hills and trees.
