Newfields is partnering with the Be Nimble Foundation to host the second annual Garden Pardi celebration in The Garden at Newfields. Garden Pardi is Be Nimble’s annual summer fundraiser and the finale celebration of Be Nimble’s Black Innovation Week.
The Be Nimble Foundation is a social enterprise based out of Indianapolis, founded by Jeff Williams and Kelli N. Jones. Their mission is to take a qualitative and quantitative approach to create a fully diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem. They offer career training and placement programs to people in all stages of their careers, including entrepreneurship programs to support Black and Latinx tech startup founders to help them to grow and scale their companies.
“Garden Pardi and Black Innovation Week is our summer fundraising event celebrating Black culture, honoring Black history in Indianapolis, and igniting Black innovators. $25,000 of the proceeds will go directly in the hands of our founders to fund and accelerate their start-ups,” said Jeff Williams and Kelli N. Jones, co-founders of Be Nimble. “When we closed our eyes and imagined the perfect venue for Garden Pardi, we each saw Newfields. Right there in the heart of our city in its urban core. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner for years to come and collectively double down on our investment back into the Black community, particularly the neighborhood, entrepreneurs and artists.”
Proceeds from Garden Pardi go to the winners of Be Nimble’s Idea Stage Pitch Competition. In 2021, Be Nimble donated over $100K in grants and resources to 12 Black startup founders. This year Be Nimble will be donating $25,000 to five Black startups in the early stages of their business and those recipients will be announced at the June 18 event. Applications for the Idea Stage Pitch Competition are open until April 29, 2022.
“Newfields is humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to partner with the Be Nimble foundation to host the Garden Pardi in The Garden at Newfields. We are unwavering in our commitment to actively work to ensure Newfields is a place where everyone can see and experience Newfields as a place for them,” said Darrianne Christian, Newfields Board of Trustees Chairwoman. “We look forward to supporting the Be Nimble foundation in its mission along with executing on our own, to enrich lives through exceptional experiences with art and nature. The opportunities Be Nimble has provided, and continues to work towards, for the Black & Brown community are unparalleled, and I look forward to continuing our journey with them as a valued partner.”
