At the heart of downtown Indianapolis is the farmers’ market that brings in over 5,000 people from surrounding communities. The first and third Thursdays of the month June – September from 4 pm – 6:30 pm, individuals in the community are welcomed into a market featuring 17 local vendors producing fruit, vegetables, honey, flowers, and baked goods of the highest quality. This market not only provides fresh food options, but it also offers wellness screenings and educational information on the importance of eating right and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Over 100 vendors from across the state gather at Lawrence High School every Saturday from May through October to show off their unique and delicious products. This market is open from 8 am – noon to allow ample time to discover the booths of some of the best farms, nurseries, bakeries, wineries and numerous other specialty vendors in Indiana. A vibrant community gathering place is created by bringing together food and craft artisans, musicians, local businesses and a variety of opportunities for educational and cultural exploration.
Located in one of Indianapolis' unique cultural districts, the Broad Ripple Farmers' Market welcomes more than 60 vendors offering everything from fruits, vegetables and prepared food to fresh bison meat and treats for your pets. The market is open from May through November and sets up in the parking lot behind Broad Ripple Magnet High School every Saturday from 8 am to noon during May through September, and from 9 am to noon during September through November. The Broad Ripple Farmers' Market is open rain or shine, and pets are always welcome.
Garfield Park Farmers Market was formed by local food advocates out of a need for better food access. With the support of Indy Parks & Recreation, Garfield Park Neighbors Association, South Circle Farm and Big Car Collaborative, Garfield Park neighbors Julia Woody and Ashley Brooks have spearheaded this initiative. The market aligns with the Slow Food International principles of good, clean, and fair food for all. A variety of food options are available for customers, including organic produce, grass fed meats, locally roasted coffee, artisan cheeses, local honey, and more. The market runs from May to October every Saturday from 9 am - 12:30 pm.
From June – October, Ellenberger Park near Indy’s east side features the Irvington Farmers' Market on the second Sunday of each month. Gather with friends and family to explore the isles of delicious produce from 70-plus vendors. There is an abundance of freshness with seasonal fruits including the best, local peaches, apples and watermelons. Food isn’t all this market has to offer; be sure to also take a look at the hand-crafted jewelry and pottery available, or pull up a chair and enjoy some local tunes at no cost.
Every Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm, locals and visitors can stop by the north side JCC to indulge in the delicious offerings of the second annual farmer’s market. Fresh, locally sourced foods are the staples of this market while a number of artists’ and musicians will also participate in the Sunday fun. Each week the JCC will feature repeat vendors in addition to adding new vendors. The selection will always be fresh, just like the produce, and one can come back time, and time again.
The Indiana Statehouse and Government Center Campus houses a unique farmers’ market every Thursday beginning in late May and lasting through October. This market offers a delicious lunch scene for all food enthusiasts. Open from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, fresh produce, flowers, meats, cheeses and more are available for purchase, and prepared meals can be bought from a range of Indy’s food trucks: each week features a diverse food truck lineup to choose from.
The Indianapolis City Market has been a staple in downtown Indianapolis for many years and continues to offer an opportunity for downtown employees and residents to buy farm fresh produce. Visit the City Market's Farmers Market all year long on Market Street between Delaware and Alabama Streets. From May to October, the market sets up shop outside on Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. November to April, the market moves indoors and is open on Wednesdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
