Indianapolis City Market will host the 131st Birthday of the Historic Market House with a celebration honoring the history of the Market House, aiming to raise funds and increase awareness to ensure the preservation of downtown Indianapolis’ first and only public Market House.
The MRKT BALL 2017 celebration will have a 1950s rock ‘n’ roll theme – a 60-year tribute to the last concert ever held in Tomlinson Hall before it burned in January 1958. That show in November 1957 consisted of Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, Joe Turner, and many other big names of the era.
MRKT BALL 2017 will be a black-tie or costume gala (poodle skirts welcome) benefitting City Market, specifically a number of “placemaking” improvement projects intended to make City Market a more enjoyable place for people to be. Guests of MRKT BALL will be welcome to stroll through the Historic Market House, enjoy live music by local group Chamber Music performing captivating tunes of the 1950s, try food samples courtesy of Market House merchants, and view a historical exhibition of Market House treasures.
Tickets: $125-$150, designated driver; $150-$175, general admission; $175-$200, VIP.
We look forward to hosting you.
