During this strange and unusual summer, one of the traditions I've missed the most is running events. By now in a typical year, I would have a minimum of three 5ks with my daughter under my belt. And while we've logged plenty of miles on the road and even participated in a few virtual events, I still find myself aching for an in-person option.

If you're feeling the same, I have good news. One of Indy's best fitness events is still on the books for this summer. The Indy Ultimate on July 25 is far from your typical 5k, though. Featuring unique fitness opportunities that could ONLY happen in Indy, you truly get the ultimate experience. When else could you kick a field goal in Lucas Oil Stadium? And you seriously don't want to pass up the opportunity to run the bases at Victory Field either, do you? And you'll get to pose with some of Indy's best landmarks, too.

This year's 5.5 mile run/walk loop with fun physical challenges will look a little different than in years past. There will be smaller waves of start times, allowing participants to socially distance. Special care has also been taken to allow for distance and cleaning at each activation area. Volunteers will be provided with masks and gloves. You'll see plenty of hand sanitizer along the route, too. And if you're not up to the in person option, you can run or walk a three-mile virtual experience instead.

Probably most importantly, a portion of this year's Indy Ultimate goes directly to support workers employed by the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association. Many have been hit hard by the economic changes brought on by Covid-19. $10 from every in-person registration and $5 from each virtual registration goes directly to funding hospitality workers in need. You even have the option to make additional donations.

NOW is the time to register for this unique and fun, ultimate challenge. Your registration includes participation in the event, an Adidas t-shirt, finisher's medal, and more. Let's get on the move, see Indy from a safe social distance, and support the hard working people in the hospitality industry this year. Head to the Indy Ultimate site for more details and to get signed up before it's too late.
