Thank you for your interest in Courses Restaurant! We are very excited to know that you are curious about what our students do here in Ivy Tech's culinary program. Unfortunately, we are not open to the public like a a regular restaurant would be and have very select dates for reservations. Courses restaurant is only run in conjunction with specific culinary and customer service classes that are currently offered only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They learn about many different things in these classes, so Wednesdays are generally set aside for lecture, demonstrations, and prep, while Thursdays are service days. However, because we want them to learn about different styles and settings we often do private or off site events on Thursdays, so only four or 5 dates are open to the public in a semester. Please see below for the full break down of other information.
Courses consists of both a café on the first floor of our culinary center and a high-end restaurant on the penthouse floor of our culinary center. Both are student run operations, only open in conjunction with classes.
The café is run in conjunction with our breakfast and pantry culinary class and is open as follows:
The penthouse is our fine dining restaurant on the top floor and is open to the public only on select Thursdays throughout the semester. When Courses is open, our customer service classes run the front of house and we serve cuisine based on the culinary class that the customer service class is paired with. The cuisine may be classical (French) or specialized (a variety of international cuisines). It may be served as a buffet, family style, full a la carte, or some combination of both. Menus for the open dining dates are released as they are available (with first notification going out to the Courses email group, and may change at the last minute to best suit our students' learning objectives. When open, hours are as follows:
Reservations are best made by emailing the Customer Service instructor, Tasha Overmyer , though if you know the date and time of interest, you may also book on Open Table, which is also a great resource for reviews as we have over 110 as of 2019.
Interested in booking the penthouse for a private event outside of student availability? Please email.
