Wednesdays this summer, join us on the canal just outside the Indiana State Museum for an evening of games, hands-on activities, unique challenges and interactive demonstrations. Each evening takes on a different theme, including color on the canal, chemistry, field to fork and more. Bring your family, friends and neighbors for a fabulous summer evening of fun.
- June 5 - Color on the Canal
Celebrate an Indiana summer full of bright vivid color, from bright green grass and red wild flowers to brilliant orange sunsets and deep blue skies. Experience an evening filled with colors of your own choice through hands-on art activities and demonstrations.
- June 12 - Nature Play Day
It’s time to get outside and play! Take part in some classic outdoor activities like corn hole and hula hooping, and discover some more historic activities like using an atlatl or stick and hoop. Community partners will be on-hand to help you discover even more ways to take your family on an outdoor adventure.
- June 19 - Chemistry Night
Become a catalyst for science. Conduct experiments and discover if your hypothesis is correct. Explore how we use chemistry every day, and talk to local experts and see how they use chemistry in their careers. Don’t be surprised if there are a few (safe) explosions along the way!
- June 26 - Build It
Test your skills with a variety of building challenges. Design your own building, try some hands tools and meet local builders and engineers.
- July 3 - Boom and Sparkle
Celebrate Independence Day with a bang and some glitter. Create your own patriotic crafts, and discover who drafted the Declaration of Independence and how it may have originally been worded.
- July 10 - Field to Fork
Summer in Indiana is filled with lush gardens and fresh foods. This evening, explore the route Indiana produce takes to become something tasty on someone’s plate. Discover gardening tips and fresh recipes from local experts.
- July 17 - To the Moon!
On the morning of July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Kennedy Space Center on its way to the moon. This evening, celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic flight to put humans on the moon. Join us in space-related activities and to discover some of the next steps for humans in space.
- July 31 - Global Cultures
Hoosiers and their families come from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. This evening, explore the cultural diversity of Indiana and our global community. Cultural demonstrations and activities will take you for a trip around the globe and right back to Indiana.
