The Indiana State Museum is full of fun for the whole family. And this summer, that fun is overflowing outdoors, when the Museum hosts its series of kid-friendly events on the canal.

Canal Nights in Indianapolis

Every Wednesday this June and July, the Indiana State Museum invites you to enjoy a family-friendly night out downtown with Canal Nights. Free and open to the public, the weekly festivities will run from 6 to 8 pm on the Museum’s Canal Terrace. Each week, there will be a rotating theme of game nights, science nights, and art nights.

“We are excited to spend Wednesday nights on the downtown canal offering free family fun,” said Katelyn Coyne, gallery and public programs developer for the museum. “It’s really a great way for us at the museum to engage with the community and give families a chance to get out, enjoy the weather and spend some quality time together.”

Bring out your inner artist while painting on the museum’s community mural, challenge your family to a game of cornhole or try to stay dry with wacky water experiments. Additionally, the nearby Eiteljorg Museum will also offer special Wednesday evening programming on the canal as part of their Summer Under the Sails series.
