We can’t be together this May for the IPL 500 Festival Parade, but we can still come together for A New Way to Parade! This is the FIRST virtual #IPL500Parade and we’re making YOU the star! The virtual parade will feature homemade parade floats created by families at home.
Here’s your chance to break out the craft supplies and make your own float to be featured in our virtual parade! Use your creativity to build your #IPL500Parade float, just make sure it can move. Whether you’re decorating your car, bike, scooter, wagon or something else, please only use materials that you already have at your home to construct your float. Bonus points if you have a costume to match your design!
How To Do It:
Pick a design or theme: The first step to creating any good float is to draw! Think of what you would like your unique float to look like or symbolize. Do you have a favorite race weekend family tradition? A favorite driver or race team? Can you incorporate this year’s IPL 500 Festival Parade theme, Start Your Engines? You can check out past floats from the IPL 500 Festival Parade’s 64-year history HERE. Find things in your life to gather inspiration for your design! Then, map out everything that you will need to make your float: from materials to tools to what will be the vessel of your float.
Start your creative engine: Build your #IPL500Parade float! Recruit your whole household to help make your float absolutely spectacular! Dividing up tasks and working together is a great lesson in team work.
Show off your creation: We want to see your float in action! Shoot a video of your float worthy of an NBC Sports Broadcast! Include all sides of your float in the video, including it in motion! Tell us what makes your float unique and what inspired your creation.
Submit your video: Click here to fill out the quick submission form and upload your video. We can’t wait to receive your submission!
Join us for the virtual IPL 500 Festival Parade: Tune-in to our Facebook Watch Party on Monday, June 1 at 6 pm ET.
