Big Ten Weekend in Indy

There’s a lot on the line with this year’s Big Ten Football Championship game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan State Spartans. But even if you don’t have tickets to witness the marquee matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium in person, there are still plenty of ways to get a taste of the hoopla.

This Friday and Saturday, the Indiana Convention Center will host the Big Ten Fan Fest presented by Dr Pepper, welcoming fans of all ages to enjoy interactive games, entertainment (including special guest appearances and mascots), performances by participating team bands, giveaways, food and beverages, and much more. For fans that were lucky enough to get a ticket to the championship game, access to the fest will be free. However, those who will not be attending the game can also purchase tickets at a low cost ($8 for adults and $4 for kids).

Also on Friday, craft beer lovers will have the opportunity to get a taste of some of Indiana’s many great breweries through an event called Taps and Touchdowns. From 5:30 to 9 pm, Pan Am Plaza will be transformed into a miniature beer festival with more than 20 local breweries on hand. Additionally, those who purchase tickets can look forward to complimentary food samples, tailgating games, and music by DJ Yoshi.

Before the game on Saturday, all are also welcome to stop by Meijer’s Tail Greater Party on Georgia Street, which will be free and open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm. At the party, fans can expect to find food trucks, a beverage garden, a live band, and merchandise, as well as a Major League Eating contest featuring Joey Chestnut and other professional eaters.
