Stories Beyond Combat - Conversation and Documentary Screening
Overview
Join us this Veteran’s Day for an insightful and moving conversation with Emmy Award–winning filmmaker and Vietnam War veteran Ron Osgood, as he shares the creative journey behind his two acclaimed PBS documentaries — My Vietnam, Your Iraq, and Just Like Me: Vietnam War Stories from All Sides. Through a reflective conversation, a documentary screening, and the opportunity to visit Hoosier Voices From Vietnam, guests will have the opportunity to honor and recognize the service of veterans.
We will begin with Ron’s reflections on producing My Vietnam Your Iraq, a film that explores the personal stories of Vietnam veterans and their children who served in the Iraq War. He will share several short clips and discuss how this project ultimately inspired the creation of his second documentary.
Then, we will screen Ron’s second documentary, Just Like Me: Vietnam War Stories from All Sides, which brings together voices of American and North Vietnamese veterans, filmed throughout the United States and on multiple trips to Vietnam. The film offers a powerful look at the long-lasting effects of war and the human connections that transcend geography and cultural divides.
A brief Q&A with Ron will follow the screening. Guests are invited to visit our latest exhibit, Hoosier Voices From Vietnam, before or after the presentation; the exhibit is included with admission, which is free for IHS members and veterans.
