Downtown Indy Inc.'s Circle of Lights® presented by IBEW 481 is Indy's most time-honored holiday tradition. This year, the 60th annual Circle of Lights Tree Lighting event will take place on Monument Circle on November 24, as well as a special made-for-TV event seen exclusively on WTHR Channel 13. Then, the lights will be visible all throughout the holiday season in the heart of downtown Indy.
An impressive light display will transform the Indianapolis Zoo into a winter wonderland this holiday season. In 2015, Christmas at the Zoo ranked in the top five in the nation for zoo light displays by USA Today. And although it may be winter, visitors can still expect to see some of the zoo's hardier animals (i.e. seals, walruses, and tigers) out enjoying the holiday temperatures.
At Winterlights at Newfields, over one million holiday lights glow across the campus at Newfields. Lights dance beneath your feet and twinkle overhead, reaching to the very tips of 100-year-old trees, enveloping guests below. New wandering paths take guests on a journey through the woods on the Twinkling Trail. Dazzling baubles hang from trees and a larger-than-life illuminated ornament doubles as a photo op.
In this holiday event, families will be able to drive through a 2-mile car ride in the midst of over a million LED lights. The lights will imitate figures such as trees, snowflakes, candy canes, and tunnels of lights. The lights will also be synchronized to sounds of the holiday season which will play in your own personal vehicle.
Featuring dozens of new themes, a sleigh ride opportunity, a festive competition, and of course 50 decorated trees. Visitors are welcome to take part in scavenger hunts, and enjoy holiday-themed songs.
Conner Prairie is the perfect local destination for family holiday fun! Guests can marvel at the famous Reynolds Farm Equipment Christmas Lights, sock-skate at Frosty's Skating Rink, and visit North Pole Village for a selfie with Santa. The event will feature local entertainers and musicians, and serve special holiday treats and beverages. There will also be educational pieces in Prairietown to celebrate history and the holidays.
