Silver bells . . . Hark hear the bells . . . Hark the herald angels sing . . . Sing we all Noel, Noel . . . The first Noel, the angels did say . . . Angels we have heard on high.

Perhaps more than any other holiday, the Christmas season is marked by music. Lyric after lyric, note after note, refrain after refrain, our hearts and souls tie the music of the season neatly to our fondest memories and honored traditions along with the greater significance that December 25 represents.

Nothing puts me in the mood to decorate and celebrate like a good carol or classic holiday song. From the end of November through the end of December, every playlist is loaded from start to finish with Christmas music.

If you love the sounds of the season as much as I do, mark your calendar now for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir’s Festival of Carols. Beginning December 4 with five performances throughout the month, you’ll be dazzled and delighted to hear and see this Christmas spectacular. You can take in the sights and sounds at either the lovely Scottish Rite Cathedral or the breathtaking Palladium at the Center for Performing Arts. Tickets start as little $15. What a great tradition to begin with your family, friends, or someone you love.
