The annual parade to honor area military veterans will include more than 80 units. A musical prelude will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 am on the steps of the Indiana War Memorial. The route starts at Michigan and Pennsylvania Sts., heads south on Pennsylvania St. to New York St., west on New York St. to Meridian St., then north on Meridian St. to North St.
In 1963, a small group of patriotic volunteers formed a nonprofit organization to host an annual Indianapolis Veterans Day Parade. The mission is simple: to honor all veterans and to educate and inspire community awareness while paying tribute to the service and sacrifices all veterans have endured in the pursuit of freedom. The parade rekindles a great tradition in which veterans are enthusiastically cheered as they walk down Meridian Street.
